project: my entry for the cinenerdle 2023 peele x aster poster design contest
concept: the contest required participants to pick one ari aster movie and one jordan peele movie, and make a poster combining elements of both. i picked hereditary (aster) and nope (peele). i used 80s horror film posters as inspiration, which feature stark, often stylized text, an illustration style, and often a house. the film hereditary also features a miniature house, so i thought a colour pencil texture would feel more homemade, almost like felt.
the house and its inhabitants are elements from hereditary, while the cloud, the horse, and the tube man are from nope.
this entry made the top 20 chosen posters.
